Join us for our 24th Annual Boardwalkin’ for Pets walk-a-thon!
Bring your 4-legged friend or adopt a shelter dog for the day. Meet at the Ocean City Inlet on the Boards and register to be eligible for prizes. Enjoy refreshments for people and canines. Registration starts at 8:30am. Contests begin at 10:45am. Walk the entire length of the boardwalk or to 12th Street.
The Wags & Whiskers Gala is an annual event celebrating the animals of the Virginia Beach SPCA. This year’s theme is Miami Vibes, and over 400 guests will gather at the Marriott Oceanfront Resort to toast, celebrate, and support our mission of eliminating animal suffering and increasing human compassion. The Wags & Whiskers Gala is our biggest fundraising event of the year, bringing in critical funding for the homeless animals of our community. Guests will enjoy a spectacular evening of delicious cuisine, festive cocktails, live music, activities, auctions, and more.
When: Saturday, April 12th | 7-11 p.m.
Where: Marriott Oceanfront Resort

All funds raised from the Wags & Whiskers Gala directly support the VBSPCA’s mission of eliminating animal suffering while increasing human compassion. This mission is achieved through animal sheltering and enrichment, veterinary care, spay and neutering initiatives, and humane education programs.
What began in 1989 as a local celebrity and pet fashion show, the Wags & Whiskers Gala has evolved to become one of our most impactful fundraising events and a true celebration for the animals. In 2024, the gala raised more than $300,000, which directly supports our mission of eliminating animal suffering while increasing human compassion. Our mission is achieved through animal sheltering and enrichment, veterinary care, spay and neuter initiatives, and humane education programs.

Together, we can provide animals with shelter and lifesaving medical care, help families adopt new pets, rescue animals from cruelty and neglect, and so much more. In the coming year, we will care for more than 40,000 animals in need! By joining the Walk for Animals, you'll help give each one the second chance they deserve!
Rain or shine, gates will open at 9 AM on Saturday, May 3, at the International Bazaar in the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. We'll begin walking at 10 AM and wrap up our fun-filled day by 1 PM.
All animal lovers are welcome at the Walk! Didn't fundraise? No problem. There are still plenty of opportunities to make a difference for vulnerable local animals at the Walk with cash, credit card, and virtual payment donations.
Walk route and location
This year, we're back at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds to celebrate second chances.
Walkers will start on Underwood Street. The walk route is approximately one mile, and you can turn around at any time or make additional loops for a longer route.
How to bring your pet to the Walk
For the safety of your dog and others, we highly recommend a 4’ or 6’ flat leash. Retractable leashes are not advised.
We also recommend small animals like cats, rabbits, and ferrets enjoy the Walk for Animals from the comfort and safety of a carrier or covered stroller.
What to bring
Good news: There’s no need to check in with staff on Walk day to pick up fundraising prizes! To make it convenient for our Walk attendees, any prize earned will be shipped to you following the event.
You may mail your donations in advance (must be postmarked by May 9 to be counted towards your prize level). If you prefer to drop off your cash and check donations along with a completed donation tracking form, you can do so on Walk day at the donation drop-off tent.
Cash for food and merchandise purchases as not all vendors take credit cards. ATMs are also available at the event.
Weather-appropriate clothing and supplies such as hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, or an umbrella.
To reduce waste, please bring your own water in a reusable container.
Food, entertainment, and more
After you walk, it's time to celebrate all you’ve helped make possible for animals! The Walk features an array of food and beverage vendors to delight your taste buds, as well as an incredible lineup of local retailers, rescues, and pet service providers. See who'll be joining us.
We'll also have live a band and a number of fun activities for pets and people alike! Stop by the International Bazaar to dive into the fun.

9 AM: Walk for Animals grounds open
Activities, vendors, and food trucks are ready for your arrival.
Donation drop-off
Drop off your donations any time between 9 AM and 12:30 PM to be counted toward your fundraising goal and the prize level you earned.
Note: Your fundraising prize(s) will be mailed to you after the event.
10 AM: Walk begins!
We’ll kick off the Walk at 10 AM. The one-mile route will be available for thousands of animal lovers and their pets to prove that every step is a second chance.
11 AM: Pet costume contest begins
Sign your pet up for the costume contest at the main stage by 10:45 AM on Walk day. Space is limited.
12:30 PM: Donation drop-off closes
1 PM: Walk for Animals grounds close

We are seeking donations of new or clean, gently used items to sell. Please refrain from bringing rummage sale items to the shelter, as we do not have the space to safely store and transport them.
You can drop off rummage sale items at the Arle Memorial Hall on Thursday, May 2 from 4 - 8pm and Friday, May 3 from 8am - 12pm and receive a tax donation receipt if you'd like!
***Unfortunately, we are unable to accept large appliances, clothing, computer towers, televisions, or large furniture. Clean and gently used items only, please. Pet Walk is the Wisconsin Humane Society’s annual family-friendly walk to support animals in need and this year, we hope you'll join us to celebrate 26 years of Pet Walk GB! This fun-filled event is the largest and oldest fundraiser for animals at our Green Bay Campus, and features a leisurely stroll through the park, as well as music, local vendors, a doggie costume contest, family-friendly activities, plus games and treats for our four-legged participants! Leashed and well-behaved pets are welcome to join, but not required. Registration for Pet Walk 2025 opens on February 10
